Open Day Information

We are holding two open days to give you the opportunity to visit the Nursery, meet the staff and have a look around.

Open days at Peartree Nursery take place every 2nd Wednesday of the month 10am -6pm.

There’s no need to book a time to visit us on our open days, so long as you arrive between the times shown.

If these times are not suitable for you please get in touch to arrange a convenient time.

The full day care nursery was established in 1990 and offers 91 places to children from three months to five years.

We are open from 8.00am until 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, except for the week between Christmas and New Year and on Bank Holidays. We cater very much for working parents and carers offering both full and part time places.

The children are divided into specific areas with activities geared to each age level. There is a Babies unit, the Toddlers Area and Pre-School rooms. All are designed to provide maximum value to the children, including: story corners, sleep areas, sensory areas and room, IT area, messy space and eating area.

We have a fabulous garden, securely fenced, used by each age group in turn, which also has an under cover area so the children can still get fresh air at the not so sunny times of year.. In extreme weather, we have a sports hall for the children to crawl, toddle, run and jump in!

Staff are highly trained and as an employer we are committed to their further development and training. This is characterised by our achievement and on going commitment to the Investors in People standard. We sponsor staff through a variety of qualifications. We place special emphasis on adequate staff ratios and regard nationally laid down standards as a minimum. We don’t cut corners where child-care is concerned.

Meals are provided from our onsite kitchens, except for formula-milk bottles for the very young, which parents or carers are asked to bring with them each day.

The nursery is self-contained and has security procedures that control access from the rest of the YMCA complex and the outside world.

We are registered and inspected by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).

We make special efforts to maintain a bond with parents and carers and help them to share the hours that their children spend with us. Every child has a progress chart and for the very young we keep a daily diary of their development.
